Industry News, Organisational Members
Founded in 1871 and located in the heart of Lausanne, the Opéra de Lausanne plays a key role in the cultural life of French-speaking Switzerland. Since its reopening in 2012, the house has been equipped with a technologically advanced stage, hosting each season a rich and diverse programme spanning from the 17th to the 21st century. This artistic diversity, combined with the excellence of internationally renowned performers, has earned the institution a distinguished reputation, both on stage and through prestigious international collaborations.
Beyond its artistic achievements, the Opéra de Lausanne stands out for its commitment to education and accessibility. Each year, it presents a dedicated opera for young audiences, reaching over 2,000 students, and offers professional opportunities for emerging talents from regional conservatories. Its Route Lyrique, launched in 2010, extends this mission by bringing high-quality productions to audiences across the French-speaking world during the summer season.
Under the direction of Claude Cortese, a passionate musician and seasoned opera professional who began his career at the Opéra de Lausanne itself, the institution continues to balance tradition and innovation, nurturing the next generation of artists and audiences.
We are proud to count the Opéra de Lausanne among our members and look forward to supporting its continued contribution to the vitality and diversity of opera in Europe.
